Charles solution didn't work here and your above advice does
not yet apply here as I'm running Win 3.1.
Something occures though, there's a setting in CMOS for
32 bit access, I guessed and left it on and if I switch it 
to 16 bit the files crosslink though it's easily fixed with Norton
or chkdsk and no longer complains with no loss of data going
from one to the other.
Perhaps this 32 -16 bit access in the CMOS refers to FAT 32 and
FAT 16 as opposed to the 32 bit access referred to in Win 3.1
and the source of my problem?
