subject: Refilling Laser Toner

JH>Greetings to ALL. I just wanted to share about my latest cost-cutting
JH>project.

JH>Toner cartridge on my little HP LaserJet 4L finally ran dry a few weeks
JH>back. I figured it wouldn't cost much to get a refilled cartridge. I
JH>called some of the local refillers and got 3 different prices, ranging
JH>from $51 to $59. New ones at Office Depot and such were, of course more
JH>- - all of these options were 2 to 3 times as much as I paid for the
JH>whole printer. I wasn't pleased.

Have you ever compared the price of razor blades for your
injector razor to the original price of the razor?

JH>I checked at Ebay, searching for a bargain, and ended up buying a
JH>do-it-yourself toner refill kit - - just a little plastic jug of dry
JH>toner. Whole thing was $8, plus shipping and insurance.

JH>All I had to do was take a utility knife and cut a small hole in top of
JH>the cartridge, then carefully pour the dry toner in there thru a small
JH>funnel. Then, tape over the hole when finished. Just took a few
JH>minutes.

JH>Viola - it worked like a charm. Prints like a new one now. With the
JH>shipping and all, cost less than $15. I like it.

Good move, for a while, till the cleaner bar needs
replacing. Then what?

Jay
