 Not that I've heard. There's a person here in this town w/ one
that's a half blood coon cat. Bob tail, fur 'tween toes, etc. 

 Acts just like a big fat overweight house cat.

 Ttbomk, the maine coon cat for all it's size and other attributes,
it's listed as felix domesticus just like any other house cat unlike
the ocelot and some of the other more... exotic types.

 The story I heard abt them is what got me interested in them
aside from the fact that they can get as big as a medium sized
dog.

 Seems this family owned one and had invited some friends over
for dinner. The cat had never met them so at least to it they were
strangers. Anyhow they were setting up the table and needed more
silverware. One of the guests volunteered to go to the kitchen and
get it. They got to the doorway and the cat walks up from the kitchen
side, sets down right in the middle of the door, and when they tried
to go around it shifted position and growled.

 When asked abt the silverware the person said they were trying to get
it but the cat wouldn't let them in the kitchen. 

 One of the owners came up and told the cat this was a friend and to
let them thru. The cat gets up, gives the person a sniff and a rub, and
goes off on it's merry way.

 All the attitude of a cat but the trainability of a dog and the family
loyalty of a chow or german shepherd.

 Gotta like a cat like that. (ntm think of the surprise a burgler would
get, no barking or warning just a head full of claws and teeth.) ]];>
