I've been racing Chevy's on the dirt track for a few years now. Mostly
because the replacement parts are much cheaper than the other manufacturers.
Two seasons ago during the last race of the night with 5 laps to go one of
our heater hoses collapsed and virtually stopped all water flow in the
engine. With the temp gauge pegged and the oil light on we decided to push it
the last 2 laps. It quit halfway around on the last lap. It wouldn't even
turn over, the exhaust was glowing, the oil was boiling in the pan (you could
hear it popping), and there was gas boiling out the carb. We figured it was a
goner, but two days later it started right up & we drove it on the trailer.
Since then we've rebuilt it, but it's still kickin...
