Hello all,
I have seen a few msges concerning 'how to code a modplayer'.
there is however a quite extensive and very instructive
documentationpackage available on the net (and probably on
some demo-scene-oriented or code-oriented BBS near you).
It is called FMODDOC.ZIP (the old file, which is almost 2,5 years
old), or the newer one FMODDOC2.ZIP which is 'only' 1,5 years
old.
They are to be found on ftp.cdrom.com/demos/code/...
somewhere beyond that directory :-) ... in /sound or
/players or /documentation or /tutorials or whatever
they changed it in this time :-)
Things they cover (I will only go over FmodDoc2):
  - loading a .MOD and .S3M (and explaining every BIT
in the format, complete with equations et all)
  - how to set up your players
  - how to set up the timer (a tutorial)
  - how to set up a mixer
  - how to play it
  - how to play it on GUS (Gravis UltraSound)
     (C source included)
  - how to do DMA transfers
  - how to do mixing on a Sound Blaster
  - ...
just check that one out, it is a great package!
and all FREEWARE! :-)
Greetz,
