Over here the VCR-tapes are much cheaper than DAT-tapes....A VCR-tape is 
about F 12,- and a DAT-tape about F 25,- the same about VCR versus 
DAT-recorder.....a DAT recorder costs about F 1200,- and a VCR about
F 400,- and that's a remarkable difference
