What an >interesting time we would have now. > >Judy > Bad idea, Judy. Very bad for any number of reasons. First of all, it would have no practical effect because vice presidents don't have any power and in most administrations are simply relegated to waiting around for the president to die. Secondly, the last thing we want is a change of party control simply because a president dies. That is reminiscent of Germany's dumb system wherein at one point the Social Democrats were forced out of control because an idiot little party decided it wanted to back out of its coalition with them and form a coalition with the Christian Democrats instead and that for no other reason than the leader of that little party was promised a higher position in the Christian Democratic government than the one he had in the Social Democratic government. So, the elected government was out and the unelected Christian Democrats were suddenly in and all that without an election. Would you really like to see that kind of thing here simply because a president dies? --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
