It wasnt clear if you wanted to do an illegal mod to the phone system
which could in theory cost you $12K if you get caught with it, say dear
mum calls Telecom to report a fault while you are out/away and
accidentally dobs you in.

Its pretty trivial to lash up. Basically the voltage on the phone line
is quite high with all the phones on hook. If any phone is off hook the
voltage on the phone line drops to a much lower one.

I was going to suggest one of the mag kits, but then you know they never
work so there isnt much point in suggesting one of those.
