Hello, Joe. Have you and I corresponded before? I have many RICH
relatives in Jackson/Clay Counties! Many of them born in the early
1850s and later. I have met only a couple other people studying this
line. I was in Clay and Jackson Cos. just last month and photographed
most all the RICH gravestones in Macedonia Cemetery at Moss.
You probably already know, but there were/are basically two RICH
families there, one that descends from John RICH (abt 1795-1871), and
the other from Jesse RICH (1782-1860), both born in N.C. then came to
Jackson Co. Jesse lived in Overton Co. part of the time, but John
stayed put in Jackson Co., that part that later became Clay Co. They
may have been brothers.
Study of Jackson and Clay Co. is made very difficult by a courthouse
fire in 1872 that destroyed all records. I have a number of books on
the two counties, so I may be able to help you.
My RICH line includes: JOHN (1795-1871) and Virginia Jane PEAK RICH;
ELISHA (1828-1907) and Mary STRONG RICH; JOHN (1850-1932) and Missouri
Ann WELCH RICH; and LOU SETTIE RICH (1880-1961) and Timothy Frogge
STEPHENS. I think I know of 90% of John Rich's line. I also have a
good part of JESSE Rich's line.
Please let me know what your names are and let's see if we can be of
help to each other. We probably should switch over to the main
Genealogy echo, so you can answer me there if you like. Or better, if
you have email, my email address is below. I can send and receive
netmail, also.
I'm anxiously looking forward to hearing from you, Joe.
