subject: Maestro Modem Prices!

Hello Bill!

On 28 May 94, you said to Geoff Armstrong:

GA>> AFA how happy I am, I'm very happy with 14.4 connects, unhappy
GA>> about the dearth of 28.8 modems to call, happy with the price and
GA>> unhappy that it doesn't recognise busy tone (at least I can't get
GA>> it to).

BG> So it's just like an unapproved Maestro then. ;-)

                         ^^?

GA>> So it's in the balance, but the 1st unhappy will rapidly change,
GA>> and I can live with the second unhappy.

BG> Yeah, the only real problems would be when using these on unattended
BG> systems, which is not a problem likely to affect us just yet.

I have the "Wait for CARRIER" S reg set for 45 secs, and redial
at 5 seconds. I get "NO CARRIER" instead of "BUSY", but
that's no problem. So it's really no different to a redial delay set to 50
secs (i used to have 30 seconds). I might try setting that reg to 30 secs,
but some modem training/negotiating takes a while, so maybe 30 would be too
short.

In short, unattended useage is no problem.

Sea Ewes are round!
Geoff.
