The problem is that OS/2 is now such a minority option that the > Ubuntu installer fails to detect it, assumes that it is the only > operating system on the machine and simply overwites the MBR with the > Grub code. For most users coming from Windows, that is just fine... Any eCS user installing Linux is asking for trouble by not choosing expert mode during installation. I've only ever installed Unbuntu using expert mode, and have never managed to have the Ubuntu installer mangle my ability to boot eCS yet. Maybe this is why you didn't get the response you wanted from the developers. In fact, the only Linux distro I couldn't make do what I want was Linspire, which apparently has no expert mode for installation. Of course, I always do all my partitioning before installing Linux, and Linspire would have none of that either, insisting on handling the HD its way only. :-p -- "All have sinned & fall short of the glory of God."
