The other thing I thought of after I wrote my previous message is that
the problem may have existed only with the previous generation of LSI
chips. I have never managed to remember which is what when it comes to
the model numbers of LSILogic's own cards, so I don't know whether yours
is one of the older ones.
Mine uses the SYM_HI.ADD driver. Many newer ones use the LSIMPT.ADD driver.
It may also have been a problem of an interaction between some feature
of the Asus mobo and the Award BIOS, although I do seem to recall that
somebody reported the same problem with a different make of mobo.
