I'm unsure of the tank situation other than numbers, I know the west really
didn't have decent tanks and really didn't stand up to the German tanks.
(especially when the tigers came out)  However we did defeat the German
tanks because we cut their supply lines. (our air power was the main
strength, and not just tactical battlefield, we attacking from afar...)

There were a lot of factors to that, not the least of which that Germany
dedicated most of their more modern airpower in a different direction than
what was good for the east. (to counter the bombing and incursion by the
west.)
