Blimey. So Egypt is different to Syria which is different to Jordan which
is different to Lebanon....or is the fact that they have all/still have
large chunks of their territory occupied by the Israelis a "common
thread"?

Yup. I think it's coz God seems unable to speak for himself.

Hum. By force in one almighty gotterdammerung you are probably correct.
However via demographics etc. then it will be an interesting election &
were the Arab parties to win then the Jewish terrorism would be
interesting. Were the Jewish gov to suddenly introduce apartheid & to
disenfranchise arab voters, that would be interesting.
What both the Arabs & the Israelis know is that peace is Israel's worst
enemy. This is why Saudi, Egypt are so keen on peace.

Oh indeed. However it's always down to the degree that those who have been
treated unjustly are prepared to fight (or others are prepared to fight on
their behalf).
E.g. Ireland w/o the IRA might be part of the UK. Northern Ireland w/o the
UDO etc might be part of Eire, you might be in one big union with Canada
etc.
It would appear that the Arabs are prepared to fight & in Lebanon are
going through what you went though in 1776 etc e.g.
"To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the
union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions;"
