Well my Fuji FinePIX A310 looks just like a HDD to my ecs 1.1 system
when I plug the USB cable into the computer.
Tried it with a Kodak of similar age and specs and that worked just fine
too.
Can't say I know about the readers though. Seems most of the cameras
ahould work with teh Removable Device monitor
