I would think that in general sand and vegetable matter were good
bets. You can probably have a small truckload of clean sand
delivered by a local builder or contractor for a small cash sum.
You know where vegetable waste comes from. If you're short on
that, ask the local greengrocer if you can haul away their
rubbish for a few weeks.
I once scored big by spending one Saturday parking a 6ftx4ft car
trailer under the output shoot from an almond-husking factory.
Also consider separating your paper and cardboard waste and
digging that into the soil as a cheap form of fibre.
