So the Taliban are finished....

They should have finished the job in Afghanistan rather then invading
Iraq.... "1/2 a Job Bush" strikes again...

"he bloodiest day yet
Four soldiers killed, 10 others injured as Taliban target Canadians in a
series of attacks

TIM ALBONE AND TERRY PEDWELL

 From Friday's Globe and Mail

KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN — It was the bloodiest day yet for Canadians in Afghanistan.

Four Canadians were killed and 10 injured Thursday. Three of them died in
what one soldier described as a well-planned ambush.

Stealthy Taliban forces had formed a horseshoe around the troops holed up
in a tiny schoolhouse surrounded by land mines, then launched a volley of
rocket-propelled grenades their way.

As one soldier poked his head out of a doorway, he recalled, a grenade
swished by him and scorched his forearm. Turning his head, he watched as
the grenade struck a wall and the spray of shrapnel killed three of his
comrades.

“They were targeting us,” another soldier said as he returned from the
fighting, his hands trembling as he put a cigarette to his cracked lips.
“They were too organized; we had to pull back.”"

Oh & ye olde staggeringly effective weapon on dusty dirt roads still
shows it's supremacy in insurgent warfare:

"The first attack Thursday came at 4:20 a.m., when a LAV III hit a
roadside bomb, killing Corporal Christopher Jonathan Reid, 34, of Truro,
N.S., and injuring another soldier who was in good condition Thursday
night.

About three hours later, a second LAV hit what is believed to have been a
pressure-activated mine, flipping it over and inflicting injuries on three
Canadians. Only one was hurt badly enough to be taken to hospital, and he
was said to be in good condition.

The deadliest attack on Canadians came at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday when
the troops were out of their vehicles and chasing insurgents on foot.
Sergeant Vaughn Ingram and Corporal Bryce Jeffrey Keller were killed, along
with Private Kevin Dallaire."

Explosive devices & dirt roads are such a natural choice...& then
ambush those you've just hit....

Gee it's almost like the Sovs in Afghanistan days....
