Strong?
I'll give you 'largest'. And, though you didn't mention it, 'most expensive'.
But corrupt. It cost us five time the dollar value of spare parts to each
one to the SAVAK computer centre.
We held a standing fund in the Holiday Inn of $25,000 in cash, small
denominations. It revolved in about four weeks. When the revolution came,
two engineers spent a week in their bathroom until the machinegun fire fell
off a bit. The $25,000 and all thir credit cards got them to the airport.
They took the first place, which went to Istanbul, and then applied for
emergency ATP (green) card replacement. The ATP got them back to Frankfurt
and the meeting they then had with their manager went down in history.
If you think Hussein got what he deserved, Pevlavi didn't even get paid 5%.
