Not at all Monte. My intent was not to "puff" up the US's
participation, nor to tear down the contributions of any of the other
parties. I think all actions by each party and the results of same were
interrelated. I agree that using terms, like "we saved your
butts" is sloppy construction and is both greatly oversimplified and
carries an implication that the US was the savior.

While I think things may have taken a turn for the worse had we not gotten
involved, it may also have turned out similarly, albeit over a much longer
time frame. In any case, that was then and it's over. I believe we face at
least as great a threat today from Fascism as we did then and we need to
come together on the problem and defeat it before it grows larger than it
already has.
