I didn't reply yet coz your demands didn't match my experiences...

Nevertheless, why don't you have a look at a no problems digital camera?

Sony Mavica burn the images directly to CD, so OS compatibility is a
non-issue. Maybe my Sony MVC-CD500 is a bit over the top for you, but at
Ebay there are lots of MVC-200 , MVC-300, MVC-350 which are _new_ and
which fit perfectly into your demands.

You can put your images to rewritable media too. I began with rewritable
media, but after a while it turned out to be senseless. Indeed, as the
images are put to CD, you have your backup in one go too. So in the end
to burn to read-once media is the better solution.

Anyway, suggest you'll perform an Ebay and google search to "Sony
Mavica", "mvc-200", "mvc-250",
"mvc-300", "mvc-350" and then come back
to us.

Quite a lot of home work, isn't it?
