Italy & North Africa were sideshows. Africa simply because it was &
Italy is superb defensive terrain.

So that leaves France etc post 6/6/44. Then one has to consider the dates.
By that point the Red Army was simply steamrollering the Wehrmacht. It was
as much to make sure they didn't steamroller their way to the channel
(according to Churchill but what would he know).
