Hi Jim,
The problem with your last comment is that the Thinkpad 770 is old
technology that won't be developed any more. It was the last of the 700
series prior to the start of the lettered series. R, A, T, X, I etc.
(although I was almost the same as the old 390, so not really new design).
Developments on the physical hardware interconnects are no longer
relevant to your TP 770.
I guess the qyestion comes down to, do you want to have a second
harddisk permanently in your TP770 or only so that you can clone the old
drive to the new one ? If the latter is the case a cheaper option,
presuming you also have access to a desktop system (either yours or a
friends) would be to buy two cheap 2.5" to 3.5" eide adapter cables and
"hang" the drives off the eide adapter in the desktop and perform the
clone operation there.
