 The  place where Steve's family settled also has a large  contingent  of
 Polish folk. Grandpa Halverson once said "Woe unto the man who greets a
 Polish neighbor in Norwegian". Apparently the Polish consider that an 
 insult. Grandma Halverson was German though. A Roecker.
