Congratulations on the job!

I'm on my 3rd thinkpad (T23 this time) and they are solid machines.  The
T23 was the last one to have just the trackpoint (eraser head pointer) and
not the horrid trackpad also.  On ebay, T23 machines seem to be going in
the $500 range these days.  Check the seller carefully!

Bill Morrow runs thinkpads.com but doesn't seem to have much in the way of
older machines these days.  Bruce Markowitz may have something available. 
Both of these guys have been on the list for years and seem to be
reliable.

I'm not that familiar with HP/Compaq laptops.  I do know that Dells look
nice but are nasty in terms of reliability and ease of repair.
