CT > By the way, I quoted you for the Ritchie quote of " where there are
CT> more then fifty birds there is Polyoma".
EK>Actually, he didn't specifically say "polyoma." He said wherever there are
50
EK>or more birds, *something* is going on. I'd appreciate your correcting the
EK>quote to keep all of us "out of trouble." Thanks.
YOu'll have to make the correction regarding who else read your statement.
I believed you when you quoted that statement. You also said you were
going to order a gallon of the stuff (vaccine)! Are you going to have
your birds vaccinated for Polyoma? I beleieve your statement you
made that I called Dr. BAckos and requested the vaccine to be made
available here for all my feathered kids before they go anywhere else.
Matter if a fact, I have talked to Dr. Ritchie twice since that post
and not one time did I questioned your quoting Dr. Ritchie. I need
to know when you post something so serious I can count on your being
accurate. Not only I could continue to quote your post
but others that read it and believe you. At any rate, I now have an
appointment with my Avian Vet for him to come here to vacinate all the
kids because of your post.
EK> > raffles...NO MORE RAFFLES.
I will clearify this....NO MORE BIRDIE RAFFLES...I like
the other kind...smile
EK>Clap clap clap. More than anything, I want these eliminated!
You can start with your club....show them it is very important that
unwanted birds go to a disignated place with guidelines that as of
MAP....no more raffles for birds.
EK> > Lets keep the rolling without surgical sexing too.
This, I need to clearify too...I mean CLINICS SURGICAL SEXING AS those done
at bird/pet stores...clubs, shows/auctions.
EK>I concluded by telling him that birds have to get used to being toweled
or
EK>medical reasons if nothing else. If a bird is sick, blood may have to be
drawn.
EK>And certainly grooming has to be done when the bird is towelled (unless
we're
EK>talking about a little guy....
EK>
EK>It'll be interesting to see what he has to say....
I do believe enough education is available for most bird owners if they
want to look. Owning a Macaw is not a easy task...so surely this person
has looked into the alternative sexing with some input from others
regarding the dangers as well, the enabling the continue money hungre
vets doing this procedure at CLINICS. This is the only PROBLELM i HAVE
IS THE CLINICS. I see a use for the procedure under the full guidelines
of sterialization procedures with room, instraments and disinfecting
procedures as the doctors of medicine were taught.
I have had five Hair, Nail an Skin Salons that were successful in my
young life. I passed my two exams in Indianapolis, Indiana at Royle
Beauty Academy back in the late fifties. WE had a practical, theory
with 2 day long test for our certificate of Masters. I'll tell all the
sterilization procedures then as with today call for a heavty fine
of more then 500 bucks and OVER for each incident of not keeping the
rules and regulations pertaining to STERILIZATION PROCEDURES. It would
make a person vomit to know how much of these rules and regulations do
not pertain to a exotic PSITTACINE BY A AVIAN VET. Yet, you can go to
your hairdresser and learn more then what you see at your avian vets.
The vets I use, have to stand very sound
with sterilization procedures. my experience of running healthy
and successful Salons by which I took pride in how the operations made
top scores and neveR a incident of being fined. I had
the teachers of which they came through the TB, POLIO and the WAR. Beleive
me when I tell you if the test asked how did you smile and what muscle
did you use (kinesiology) you had better know it if you wanted to pass.
