I have had people who were generous enough to give me useful
hardware become annoyed when they found that I was actually
using it. Strange phenomena but I suspect they gave it to me as
a final test to prove they really did need a newer one. When I
got it all fixed it seems they felt betrayed?

Try to not criticize her choice of OS too much. Even with the
best of intentions people do take it as 'not liking their dog'.

I don't see all that much transmitted as HDTV just yet.

Very true. At some point I do believe TV will be a monitor and
some sort of adapter rather than one single unit.
