That's the point I'm making. Too often predictions are made in the computer
industry which never bear fruit. I'm more inclined to think that the first
batch of V.34 compliant modems will provide limited V.FC compatability, whilst
later models will do-away with V.FC compliance alltogether.

For the short term - Yes. The Long term - doubtful at best.
