This is also valuable info. I've got a list of listservs of interest
to the blind somewhere, and I"m sure that one's on it.
IN answer to another question you raised, it's good that you read both
national periodicals.
It doesn't hurt a thing. I encourage anyone who has the interest to
read both the MOnitor and the Forum. I've read a few issues over the
years, but find my time is limited, so I let the Monitor be my guide
to blindness issues. Lots of them, as I said to George, don't have
any real effect on me personally, but they do for others, so I let my
organization guide me in this respect. It's not a matter of blindly
following, (no pun intended) but a matter of how much time I can
devote. One reason I joined NFB and let its policies by my guide in
these matters is that NFB does decide its policies after discourse among
the membership.
I find it jibes with my beliefs more than any other organization of
the blind. I believe strongly in self-determination. IF we wish to
change public opinion, and that includes our own, about what blindness
is, and what it isn't, we have to do it. All the government money and
ada type laws aren't effetive. WE have to do the job ourselves. But
then, I vote Libertarian when I get a chance in elections too .
