If any of you are looking for good educational software, you might try your
local KMart's computer software bargain table.
I was over at KMart today, finishing up some shopping for the girls. I
wandered into the computer section, and was looking at the bargain table. I
managed to find a "Classic Edition" of MECC's "The Oregon Trail" on CD ROM
for DOS (*not* Windows) for $12.99. Also saw a typing tutor, MECC's Number
Munchers and Word Munchers on the same rack. I also saw some foreign language
software, "Math for Middle Schoolers", "Fractions", on the same CD ROM rack.
Most of these were for DOS or Windows 3.1, but a few said "Windows 95" too.
My husband loves a program called Crossworld - I picked him up a new version
that runs with Windows, same price as The Oregon Trail.
Over on the regular table, btw, was a new version of "The Oregon Trail",
CD-ROM for Windows - price tag, $39.99. Ouch. I think my kids will like the
"Classic edition" just as well!
