RW>RW>EN> routinely encrypted. Some cities, such as Dallas, do most
RW>RW>EN> of their dispatching on the MDT. A few months ago I went to
RW>RW>I find this funny because a lot of the stuff I have
RW>RW>read on the internet say 'scanning' the MDTs isn't much
RW>EN> Dallas isn't doing for security so much as convenience. It
RW>EN> is more efficient, supposedly, than voice communications.
RW>I'd think more dangerous also, unless Dallas uses
RW>nothing but two man cars. Back when I had. . .let me
RW>see what was that called. . .oh yeah, leisure time I
RW>watched Fox's COPS and I'd regularly see an officer
RW>driving while either reading or typing while driving.
Most of Dallas cars are one man. Exception are training units, usually
one to a sector when I was there, and every sector has one or two units
which are two man. I was there when we first got MDTs and they did
cause a couple of accidents, though that isn't the way I saw them
written up.
Take care,
