Adam,
"Wild Weasel" isn't a good test of airframe capabilities. Expose
= yourself a bit, get a lock on the AA missile site when it paints you, =
dive to the ground and then launch missiles at the site (I am not =
demeaning in anyway the pilots that flew these missions, they had = humongo
hueves). When the F4, a much more capable airframe, became dated = it was
pressed in to "Wild Weasel" service.
If I remember correctly the F-105 was designed for one purpose, an =
extremely fast interceptor of Russian bombers approaching our shores. = The
F-102 Bush flew was great if Texas wanted to bomb Denver.

Bush flew 102'es...I've always wondered if that's where "Homeland=20
Defence" came from.
However I believe the 105 was well liked. One assumes it must have =
been=20
a capable airframe given it was used as a wild weasel which wasn't the =
easiest of jobs.
