Hello Rod!

On 24 May 94, you said to Geoff Armstrong:

GA>> P.S. Just as a trial, you understand, I did connect to TML and
GA>> received my mail at 1654 CPS. Is this what you'd expect from a
GA>> modem {at} 14.4?

RS> Yeah, thats fine.

Paul seems to think it's a little low (110% on thruput, he expected 115%)
but I'm happy. I'll be even happier when Paul gets his V.FC modem...

GA>> I have my fossil set to 38400 and FD set to that also.

RS> 19200 would be enough. Depending on what you are doing about uploading
RS> your PKTs. If you are uploading them uncompressed, 38400 is better.
RS> But you can look at it the other way too, if 38400 always works, no
RS> harm in using it.

Yeah, it works fine. I'll leave it there for when I start getting 28.8 connects.

GA>> That is the fastest FD 1.01 will allow. I am in eager anticipation
GA>> of finding another 28.8 modem to connect to!

RS> There is one mentioned in the Aust Modem echo.

I just did a GREP "V.FC" NODELIST.* and dialled a few. All but
one said CONNECT 14400 (-: But the one that did CONNECT 28800 flew!

Sea Ewes are round!
Geoff.
