Works for me!  I always try to make them a little humorous.  'Thou shalt
not be �a meamie and yell at the others in the echo'.  That sort of
rendering .  �Gets the point across with a bit of a grin and tends
to be effective.

Here's a sample of one of the few that were fairly 'serious'.  I have no
idea �what runs there now as i no longer am attached to the echo.

This echo exists to allow free discussion between fidonet sysop members at
large and those fidonet sysop members who assist us in moving our echomail.

Rules the moderators must follow:

1. Thee shalt not be easily offended.

2. Thee shall never ban a top level hub from the echo, unless the hue and cry
from the masses within the echo is deafening thine ears, and even then, thee
may make only temporary adjustments in their levels of posting for a short
time till the masses are quelled.

Rules the sysops must follow:

1. Thou shalt not piss off thy moderators so far that they have to take
excessive action.

2. Thee shall recall that Janis and Carol art old fuddie duddies about
'fanci ansi' and avoid #1 above.

3. Thou shalt expect free speach to reign whilst avoiding #1 above.

4. Thine moderators mayest shift the rules as meeted by circumstance.

It was a unique situation and one of the few echos where the first part of
the �'rules' were ones that bound the *moderators*, setting a clear tone on
what to �expect from us if a potential 'fireball' broke out.
