He's an interesting guy.  He took about 6 weeks off a few years ago and
spent it touring New Zealand.  Another multi-week vacation took him
canoeing across part of Canada.  He was supposed to be going on a trip
across the Silk Road at one point, but that trip had to be canceled due to
hostilities in the area.

He used to meet women on the internet and use his vacation to visit them
all over the USA and several of them abroad - we called them his
net.chicks.  He eventually met his wife over the internet.  She was
finishing up a grant at MUSC in Charleston and was coming to the Upstate
job-hunting.  They had dinner together and have been together ever since. 
They're a good couple - he's wacky, and she's a psychologist - understands
him perfectly!   She doesn't, however, share his taste for
adventure vacations.
