| subject: | PL/1 for OS/2 |
OK, I'm going to try this one last time, because IBM seems to have a habbit of changing it's pages for no apparent reason and without any warning. Yesterday morning I again found the download site for PL/1 for OS/2. This is how I got there: http://www.software.ibm.com/ad/pli notice I included the 'com' this time! click SHOP on the menu bar at the bottom chick SOFTWARE on the menu bar at the top chick APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT i forget where, but it there on the page activate SEARCH In the search box type "Visual Age PL/1 Personal" and click the arrow pointing at an angle. This should get you to the download and purchase page for PL/1 for OS/2 and Windows. But I give no guarantees, because, like I said, IBM seems to change its Web Site pages randomly, at any time. You're not the only one I've given the address for IBM PL/1 for OS/2 to, so I'm getting complaints about "where is it?" from several people. Believe me, this is the LAST time I ever give someone an address on the IBM site! Now, I have found a free PL/1 compiler, thanks to the PL/1 Resources Page. But its ancient and only useful for learning. First you go to the PL/1 Resources site: http://www.users.bigpond.com/robin_v/resource.htm ( no L on htm ) click Digital Reseach you go to the offical CP/M site click PL/I for DOS Then download three files. You need all three. plisamp.zip pli_dos.zip plilib2.zip This compiler dates back to the early 80's. It was written by Digital Research, the company that IBM screwed in favour of Microsoft way back when IBM first entered the PC market. I have run this free compiler ( for personal use only ) in DOS. It seems to work. Compile the demo, pli demo.pli, then you have to link it, link86 demo.obj. Then you can run the demo. Hope it works for you! --- DLG v1.26/DLGMail v2.70* Origin: DLG Pro v1.16/DLGMail v2.63 (1:348/704) SEEN-BY: 396/1 632/0 371 633/260 262 267 270 371 635/444 506 728 639/252 SEEN-BY: 670/218 @PATH: 348/704 105 140/1 396/1 633/260 635/506 728 633/267 |
