Dial.  Believe it or not, ATD 555-1212 will dial that number, using either 
Tone or Pulse, depending on how the modem was configured.  Some modems will 
also auto-select Tone or Pulse - they send the first digit as Tone, and if 
the dialtone stops, they tone dial the rest of the number.  If the dial tone 
doesn't disappear, they switch to pulse and redial the first digit and then 
the rest of the number.
