I had a similar problem for a while with windoze and Fedora Core v1.
Once in FC, a warm boot to winderz or OS/2 would have no PS/2 mouse. I
had to cold boot, or power down after FC to get the mouse back.
Replacing FC1 with FC2 solved the problem. Maybe a doze service pack
will solve your problem.

Post-AT puters are never powered down unless the power is removed from
them. Hit the PS switch in the back, pull the plug, or hit the power
strip switch if you want the power off.
