Just powering > off the computer does not solve the problem. I had a similar problem for a while with windoze and Fedora Core v1. Once in FC, a warm boot to winderz or OS/2 would have no PS/2 mouse. I had to cold boot, or power down after FC to get the mouse back. Replacing FC1 with FC2 solved the problem. Maybe a doze service pack will solve your problem. Post-AT puters are never powered down unless the power is removed from them.
