For years the Indianapolis Star was run by the Pulliam family, ardent conservatives
all. I grew up reading the Sunday Star and chafing at its editorial content.

Eugene V. Debs, OTOH, was a socialist/unionist, more or less at the other extreme.
I read of Debs' career rather early on in my education and found it quite compelling.

I wouldn't support his causes now though.
