I had problems with adding a generic PNP sound card in a machine with a
Creative Labs/Panasonic/Matsu...er...whatever 2X CD ROM with proprietary
interface on a separate card. It would work for a while, then either it
would quit or the sound would break up -- classic IRQ conflict symptoms. The
WIN 95 device manager showed _NO_ conflicts but I've been told that it's not
uncommon for WIN 95 to fail to detect a conflict!
Just a thought, if you have CD-ROM drivers for that Creative Labs unit
installed in CONFIG.SYS, you might try removing them and letting WIN 95 use
its own drivers.
