In that case, would you be able to tell me how (using a cannon fax) to dial
so that a fax will be sent through the kind of phone system where you have to
dial a number, get a second dial tone, then dial the number to send to? Or
tell me where in the operator's manual those instructions are? All of the
instructions about dialling are about programming speed dials, not one about
how to make a dialling string of number-one second pause-number. Other
operating manuals have these instructions because so many places like
hospitals have "dial 9 to get out' phone systems, and use fax machines, but
the cannon fax seems to have either hidden this in an obscure segment or
decided that cannon fax machines don't need to be sold to businesses with
that kind of phone set up. Since every fax machine manufacturer uses a
different method to get that one second pause, experimenting can take hours
on end without a successful send. Nearly all modems use a comma, so I don't
see why the fax machines can't have something standard. You'd think they'd
realise how that would help sales.
