They are also more prone to failure (especially if you happen to live
inside a nuclear reactor), cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain, and quicker
to program.  If your mail software were written to NASA standards and
Shuttle limitations, it would be half the size, twice as fast and cost a
few hundred thousand dollars.
