BTW, it bears noting that Computer Associates did just this with
CA-Realizer (though it is not a "real" compiler), and, while I imagine
my POV isn't very universal, I don't think it's been used much (at least
not for that purpose).

:) Well, you're talking to the wrong person about this. I sold my copy
of PowerBASIC v3.0b because I was disgusted with the missing features
and bugs. However, I don't know how good/bad PB Inc. has been with
subsequent releases.

Have you used the product since v3.0a (the first release)? If so,
please give me a rundown of the features added/bugs squashed from
v3.0a to the current v3.2 (I know about pointers - anything else?).

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Oh, I've had my share of communication with Bob Z. I found him to be
thin-skinned, and not very receptive to constructive criticism.
However, I don't wish to start a debate about this, so I'll leave it at
that. :)
DR> I thought OS/2 would take the world by "storm".
I'd like to debate this with you, but this isn't the place. :)
DR> Oh, and Thank you for all the code you have supplied to all of us

Thanks much for the kind words.
