That's what I thought too but now Articals are popping up in many
sports and fitness type magazines saying we need to rethink the
1980's high carbohydrate low protein low or no fat eating. Also
there is a book called "The Zone" on the best seller's list by
Dr. Sears (I can't recal his first name at the moment) that claims
a high carbohydrate diet is bad. I read his book and he says that

not getting enough protein and essntial fatty acids in our diets
is to blame for the growing number of overweight people in America
and limits athletic performance. He recomends matching every 9
grams of carbo with 7 grams of protein and 1.5 to 2 grams of fat.
There of course is much more to this but you'll need to read the
book to get all the details.

Even the popular PR Bar uses a 40/30/30 ratio of carbo/protein/fat.
I just stared trying to adjust my diet to get more protein and non-
saturated fats. Too bad I can't get out and ride as much right now
to see if it changes my average speed. The days are getting too
short to get in much riding during the week.
