SC> I had a chance to borrow a Sony CMRX 100, that's the little square on
SC> with the microphone that pops out. Nice phone, thumbwheel switch on
SC> the side to step thru your memories, fold out the mike and your call
SC> goes thru. I found it easy to operate while driving.
That phone is a little to small for my preferences, although it looks like
it'd be a nice phone to show off with. They are selling the motorola star
tac's over here for $199, a pretty good deal considering they were $1699
coming factory direct :)
SC> I've been playing with the Qualcomm Qcp-800 lately, nice phone,
SC> cdma/amps hybrid handheld phone made by Sony, caller ID, excellent
SC> audio quality, I like it, for a handheld it's a great phone. Of
SC> course, when the going gets rough it's gonna drop the call while a
SC> real phone will continue, maybe with some noise but at least the call
SC> will continue.
SC> Another good test of a phone is to drive for an hour and see how the
SC> call holds up. I do my testing in Southern N.H. where the cell sites
SC> aren't very close and where my 3 watt diamondtel is running wide open
SC> quite a bit of the time. That's the place to test a phone for
SC> performance.
Are you running the Sony in CDMAor amps mode? In amps mode it will drop
the call, CDMA is pretty good at holding the call depending on the quality
of the cell cite, although you get strange voice anomolies when you are
in a bad service area in CDMA mode. Love not having a touch of static though
it's great.
... Maybe it's right to be nervous now...
