-------------3 of 3 stuff is still using the default system font > (MS Sans Serif) at 96 dpi. If you change that setting (right click on the desktop, choose properties, settings, advanced, general tab), you will get a lot of apps that don't display everything in their dialog boxes and such. If programs aren't written to check for font size and scale, some stuff will just get cut off. Text on buttons is one good > example. ------- > I just think for the sake of good vision, Windows would be a lot > better if you could just set a scale factor (so I could make stuff as > big on a 1600 x 1200 monitor as it is on a 1024 x 768) and ALL apps > display and work correctly in the process. --------------------- > I have been bitten by this myself when I have written programs for > Windows. I've probably lost another diopter just typing this note! :) > Mike T And viewing at 13 or 14 inches is much too close for me as it is too much "in my face"; my viewing distance is about 22-24 inches (about an arms length?). I have a friend who said, after he got a 19" CRT, that anything larger than 19" is too large (for his use) as he would not be able to view the entire sceen comfortably for his viewing distance and peripheral vision. I looked at the 21" at the shows and also feel the same as the focusing of the eyes get a bit strained for my viewing distance. Of course, one can sit further away and have the keyboard on the lap or whatever... Back to the LCD/TFT, I find that on some web pages it is a strain with the 1024x768 as the page puts out even more tiner fonts to make it less enjoyable. Heck, some "web masters" don't consider the use of colors and, at times, I get either black print on a dark blue background or the blue on black or whatever color combo that make legibility even worst... -- a user -------------END-QUOTE---------------------------- PM> Did however recently discover the following PM> on your website. PM> [71]-DOS Font (2.5k archive) - Replaces the PM> standard font of the DOS text display (AT class PM> machines only). Not earth-shattering but this PM> font is much easier to read for programming etc. PM> where typos can kill your code. > Yes, I think that is novafont.zip? Dunno. It's your website.
