Only if the grid is connected to the motor. I was speaking of the
conditions which would exist if you disconnected the meter from
the grid.
 
Thanks for your reply. I started to reply back to you but I see
that another message carries a really great set of explanations
of why my thinking is incorrect on what might make a meter spin
backwards instead of in the normal direction. The other message
also carries some other interesting thought.
