| subject: | Re: Pentagon Bars Three Nations From Iraq Bids |
From: Phil Payne > You could have done better than that: as I was driving to work today CBS > Radio News mentioned that the accounting of civilians deaths would be > stopped, with the complicity of the Iraqi Governing Council. The Pentagon has long said it doesn't count (and therefore doesn't care about) civilian casualties. Others do, quite obviously, but the statistics are more than a little embarrassing - especially when it turns out that American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan are killing more civilians than Saddam and the Taliban combined. So it's no great surprise that this source of data at least is being suppressed. Like everything else this administration is doing, it's borrowing against the future. Chile now has a good idea how many "disappeared", and a future Iraqi regime will put together a good picture too. -- Phil Payne http://www.isham-research.com +44 7785 302 803 +49 173 6242039 --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
