Rick,
RP> IBM isn't even developing OS/2 anymore,
I have no idea where you got this information, but I can assure you it's
wrong! Inb fact, the beta for MErlin (Warp v4.0) is scheduled for release in
early June and the GA release for September. While they may not make
September, bet the farm it will not be 2 years late like Win 3.0 and the
Win96 wide beta called Win95!
RP> so why would they be involved with a compiler that runs under OS/2?
I can also assure you that this is an ongoing project, but it will not be a
BASIC compiler.
Were you aware that much of the Win95 development was done on machines
running OS/2 as their ONLY operating system? Heck, even Microsoft's
programmers know the value of a REAL multitasking operating system!
RP> Team OS/2 was disbanded the day before Fall Comdex last year
I can also assure you that reports of the demise of TeamOS/2 are greatly
exagerated, altho from what I've seen in various forums it might not be the
worst thing that could happen!
RP> another example of IBM's cunning marketing savvy
There are many good examples of this, but in three tries you haven't produced
even one! OTOH, you have managed to parrot the Microsoft line quite well!
