FW> BH> I would call chick to chick inbreeding. I would call parent to chick
or
FW> BH> grand-parent to chick line breeding. The stats I have seen say to
breed
FW>As I said, that's what the books call it...line breeding.
FW> BH> How do you think mutations occur, anyway? In the wild animals have no
FW>In captivity, for that is where most of the mutations occur, it is because

FW>most often than not deal with color. There are exceptions, like with the

opinion
FW>that the color is the only important factor.
However, the origin of both the blue and the lutino budgie occurred in a
wild caught batch.

FW>I have always suspected that in the wild clutch mates probably pair off.
Me too.We have a wild colony of Nandays in nearby St Augustine, Fl that
is doing well. I greatly suspect from watching them that they live
n extended communal families.
FW>I have deducted this by watching my chicks and their bonding habits.
I am seeing this in two sibling B&G macaws that are now 6 m/o. The male
is getting protective of the female. I will end up splitting them
up soon, probably this year.

Joyner studies in Guatamala. She FW>estimates that out of three chicks
I would like to read this. I like to learn as much as possible of actual
life in the wild. It explains the bird. Arndt has a good one, "Parrots
Their life in the Wild."
one will die, one will be taken by pocher FW>and one will make it into
the wild. That is, if they are fortunate enough to FW>have three chicks.
But this doesn't allow for extended families. may not happen there, but
here colonies flying wild stay together in large numbers.
FW> BH> I do however realize the importance of gene pools and studbooks
for FW> BH> endangered animals.
FW>A varied gene pool is now more important than ever since we have no more
FW>imported birds coming, legally, into the country.
