Hi John,
***** John Sandow said to John Aceto *****
JA> Where you been? Caught me offguard with a reply to a message
JS> Floundering. :-)
I thought so. ;-)
JA> from a little while ago. ;-)
JS> Yeah, now you know how my folks feel. :-)
Better brush up on that. Maybe you can take them shooting with
you. Just ask them, "Wanna see a .40 bullet do Mach 2+ ?"
JA> He got his third, Remington settled out of court.
JS> FWIW- I've got no qualms about firing my 870 with any factory
JS> ammo or reasonable reload.
JA> Mine has been nothing but a workhorse (and a good one).
JS> I'd still like to be able to cycle 3" rounds, but there are some
JS> pretty hot 2 3/4" ones out there that haven't let me down yet.
JS> Then again, I don't hunt with steel shot... :-/
Try Remington's 2.75" Nitro Magnum. I could tell you what it's
done to some turkey, but you probably wouldn't believe me.
JS> It's quite possible given me fewer problems than any other
JS> firearm I've owned, notably excepting the HK of course. :-)
JA> Mine has been great. Never tried shooting it with snow or mud
JA> in the barrel though.
JS> I've been tempted to remove the shot, leave the wad in, and drop in
JS> about 7/8 ounce worth of 5/8 dowel rod... :-) Haven't gotten that
JS> brave (or stupid) yet though...
If you stop posting this time, then I'll know why ...
JA> the brrech end. I then pulled it through to the muzzle and the
JA> barrel came out "clean as a whistle". AAMOF, it shined so nice,
JA> my neighbor decided to "clean" his too.
JS> When rebuilding sterilizer doors, I have to take out the centerpost
JS> which is about 15" long, and maybe 13/16" and 5/8" diameter. A 12ga
JS> and a 16ga bore brush (with a bottle of Hoppe's of course) clean them
JS> out great. One of the other service guys saw me do this (he happened
JS> to be a shooter) and cracked up when he saw this. :-)
Mother is the necessity of all invention. :-)
Take Care,
John
